Memorial: On June 11th 2023, the world lost an amazing man, a loving husband and father, a best of friend, and a great warrior of God. Alvin Haug was a free spirit and lived a life of love and peace. Alvin was known for his big heart, his forgiving ways, and he left a mark on every person he crossed paths with. He was the type of man to take a stranger out of the cold and into his home or to give the shirt off his back to even the ones who wished him bad. He constantly won the hearts of people with his grace and love for others. There were very few people that Alvin met that didn’t consider him a friend or family. A father of 8, Alvin was also known for his hard work. He loved his job as a plant mechanic and spent 30 years with Washington Potato and was said “to be the heart of the plant.” He instilled the same strong work ethic in his children. A simple man, Alvin always believed that a man’s legacy would be survived by his friends and family, to which he had in abundance. Alvin was born in Moses Lake, WA and frequently spent time in the Methow Valley. As a young man Alvin enjoyed the thrills of life and loved his country. He enlisted in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger, spending time in Alaska. He loved parachuting and glacier climbing. Alvin enjoyed the sand dunes, camping, swimming, fishing, and a beautiful night around the fire in the company of friends. He loved family vacations and reunions, and although sometimes difficult, always found a way to bring everyone together in love. Later in life Alvin began to enjoy quieter days like playing cribbage and horseshoes with his friends and serving and worshipping God with his wife at Patriot Church. He was a proud member of the Rattle Snake Mountain Harley owners’ group, and enjoyed beautiful rides with friends, his wife, his son, and daughter in-law. When given the chance to escape work, he would vacation with his wife, traveling the US, visiting friends, family and historical sites, paying respect to his country and those that fought and died for it. He loved family holidays and cherished any chance he got to spend time with his wife, his 8 kids, and 22 grandchildren. Alvin loved so many and was loved by so many. They say, “you are lucky to count all your friends on one hand”. He was not only lucky, but he was also blessed. Only God will know how many lives he touched. Alvin is preceded by his mother Patricia, his father Arnie, and his brother Sam. Alvin leaves behind an enormous abundance of friends and family. He is survived by his wife Joy, his children along with their spouses Amanda, Nickie (Keith), Chris, Trevor (Courtney), Jerry (Bobbie), Travis (Trish), Justin (Kaycie), Nathan (Gillian), and Jessica (Joe) and their children. He is also survived by his sisters Nita and brother Mike (Barb) along with several cousins. He will be remembered and missed by his friends Steve, Bill, and Jaime. Alvin’s celebration of life took place on Friday June 30th, 2023 at 10 A.M. at Grace Harvest Church at 313 Fig ST. Moses Lake WA. 98837.
